Every candidate is offered the same interview format and the same set of questions. Our goal is to give West Virginians a clear, consistent way to understand who is running and how they think about the issues that matter. Due to developing ideas, we sometimes ask new questions of less importance. This means that previous candidates may have not been able to answer. An example is if the candidate supports Ranked Choice Voting.
Interviews are recorded in a single sitting, with no pre‑screened questions and no edits to answers. Each question is designed to help voters understand a candidate’s values, decision‑making, and connection to West Virginia. William, the organization leader sits and listens for the most part, while Paul will ask follow up questions and sometimes add more. Below is an overview of the topics that we will ask candidates.
A simple overview of who the candidate is and what they stand for.
Helps voters understand the candidates relationship to the state, and where they came from.
Its important to know what motivates and drives the candidates.
Encourages honesty and prevents surprises. Giving the candidate a chance to address anything from their past.

Clarifies independence from major donors.
Moves beyond slogans into real solutions. One of the most important questions that West Virginians need to know.

Experience within the field, along with testing if the candidates are well prepared to answer questions.
A candidate should be willing to represent all constituents, regardless of their views.
